Álvaro Palacios

A central figure in Priorat's modern revival, based in Gratallops since 1989 and producing a hierarchy from Camins del Priorat to L’Ermita.

Producer identity

Gratallops since 1989

Álvaro Palacios arrived in Gratallops in 1989 as part of the small group associated with Priorat's modern wine revival. The current DOQ Priorat directory retains the producer in the village.

The Priorat winery is one part of the wider Palacios family wine record. Its Gratallops identity and DOQ Priorat wines remain distinct from projects in Rioja and Bierzo.

Current wine evidence

A hierarchy of regional, village and classified sites

Camins del Priorat

The broadest Priorat release in the portfolio. Its regional scope should not be mistaken for a single Gratallops vineyard wine.

Les Terrasses

A long-established Priorat red drawing on old-vine sites. Composition and sources remain tied to each vintage record.

Gratallops

A Vi de Vila whose name identifies the village relationship within the appellation hierarchy.

Finca Dofí and L’Ermita

Named-site wines at the upper end of the range. L’Ermita has carried the appellation's Gran Vinya Classificada status from the 2017 vintage; that classification belongs to the vineyard and wine, not the whole producer catalogue.

Place relationship

The Gratallops slopes

The estate record includes multiple Gratallops slopes and aspects rather than one uniform vineyard. Named sites keep their own altitude, vine-age and geology claims.

The DOQ Priorat profile restricts visits to professionals by prior arrangement. No general public tasting programme or price was verified.
