Producer identity

A modern winery built around a long family connection

Marco Abella was founded in 2001 by a family whose published connection with Porrera reaches back several centuries. The date of the current winery remains 2001; the family history is not treated as an uninterrupted company history.

The producer publishes both DOQ Priorat wines and an Olbieta range from DO Terra Alta. One company can work in two appellations without moving its Porrera winery or reclassifying the wines.

Current wine evidence

Priorat and Terra Alta remain visible in one portfolio

Clos Abella

A principal DOQ Priorat red in the estate range. Its current blend and ageing should be read from the relevant vintage record.

Roca Roja, Roca Bella and Roca Grisa

Three collection wines kept separate by grape and site: published releases identify Garnatxa for Roca Roja and Roca Bella and Carinyena for Roca Grisa.

Olbieta

The producer's separate DO Terra Alta line. Its presence in the shop does not make Terra Alta wine part of DOQ Priorat.

Place relationship

Seven hundred metres outside Porrera

The DOQ records thirty hectares of vines and a 1,500-square-metre winery about 700 metres from Porrera, arranged over three levels with two below ground.

The current visit page publishes a €36 premium vineyard and cellar visit lasting about two to two and a half hours, and a €25 tasting lasting about one to one and a half hours.
