DO Montsant · northernmost Priorat
Ulldemolins
The highest northern valley of the comarca, between Serra de la Llena and the north face of Montsant, with two current wine producers and a strong olive-oil inheritance.

Ulldemolins stands at about 650 metres in the upper Montsant valley and belongs to DO Montsant, not DOQ Priorat.

Wine geography
A cooperative and a separate small cellar
The March 2025 register lists Agrícola d’Ulldemolins and Celler Serra Major. Generalitat bottling records independently confirm the two distinct operators.
The cooperative dates its foundation to 1953. A public record using 1954 appears to mark the start of operations rather than a different foundation.

Fraguerau and the northern hermitages
The Montsant river narrows into the Congost de Fraguerau south of the village. Its paths connect with the Romanesque hermitage of Sant Bartomeu.
Sant Jaume, the Loreto and Santa Magdalena hermitages and the higher Mare de Déu de Montsant sanctuary mark different levels of the surrounding landscape.
Planning the visit
A base for northern Montsant
The C-242 connects Ulldemolins with Cornudella de Montsant and Les Garrigues.
Mountain routes and winery access should be checked before travel. A mapped path does not establish current surface, shade or year-round access.
