La Morera de Montsant
The high village beneath Montsant's cliffs, governing a municipality that also contains Escaladei, the Charterhouse and a wide spread of winery and vineyard relationships.

La Morera stands at 743 metres beneath the Serra de Montsant. The municipality includes the separate lower settlement of Escaladei.
Orientation
One municipality, two distinct settlements
The local view places La Morera above Escaladei and Poboleda. The locator marks the whole municipality, not the boundary of either settlement or any vineyard.

High estates, shared facilities and vineyard relationships
Six names appear on the live appellation village list. Official production evidence adds Cellers Tane and Clos Maria, while other producers retain vineyard relationships without becoming further municipal profiles.

8 current relationships
This is a municipal or settlement relationship list, not a list of tasting rooms. Visits must be confirmed with each producer.
The high village
Castle stone and the Nativitat church
The appellation describes La Morera as the oldest and highest town of historic Priorat. It attributes the earlier castle to the Arab period and records later use as a prison connected with the prior of Scala Dei.
Stone from the ruined castle was used to pave village streets in 1954. The parish church of the Nativitat de la Mare de Déu has a single nave and a three-arched entrance.
Montsant on foot
Named cliff passages, not casual paths
Routes climb through the graus of Barrots, Carabassal, Carrasclet, Agnet, Espinós, Grallera and Salfores. Exposure, difficulty and conditions vary, so check current park advice and select a route suited to the party.
There is no railway station. La Morera and Escaladei are separate settlements at different elevations, and arrival at one is not arrival at the other.
